The Company was founded in 2004, by Mauricio Lima and other partners, to advise companies in the Information Technology and Telecommunications sector focused on business markets (B2B) in carrying out strategic transactions.
In 2008, the Company saw the opportunity to invest in the companies in which it worked as an advisor, and started, at that time, the activity of managing equity funds with a long-term focus. Capital Tech I raised R$31.4 million and we believe it was one of the first funds created in Brazil with a focus on investments to accelerate the growth of technology-based and telecommunications companies.
In 2013, with the success of the Capital Tech I fund, the Company launched the Capital Tech II fund with R$209 million in funding from local and international institutional investors.
In 2016, the Company received the investment of Santiago Valbuena and Gilmar Camurra, complementing the Company’s knowledge and managerial experience and experience in Telecommunications operations.
In June 2018, the Company ended the Capital Tech II investment period, with a portfolio of 8 investments made. In the same year, we launched the Invest Tech VC fund, raising R$46.3 million to act strategically, investing in startups within the markets where we traditionally invest.
In 2019, the Company raised R$172 million from the Special Situations fund to specifically invest in an asset that migrated from the Capital Tech II Fund’s portfolio, generating attractive returns for Fund II investors.
As of March 31, 2021, the Company had approximately R$658 million in assets under management (AuM), being responsible for completing 20 investments, 8 exits and 22 merger and acquisition transactions in the portfolio companies.
